3 things you should do to transform your toxic workplace

Check out this article from HBR.org.

As per this article, 3 things you should do to transform your workplace and win the trust of your employees are,

  1. Start talking: Perform one-on-one, confidential interviews with employees. Give them the space to vent, and then engage them in solving the problems they've raised.

Many managers think that, they needn't do one-on-one with their subordinates if they have good public relationship with their subordinates. But trust me, there will be tons of things which people want to say to their supervisors but t they never speak due to lack of opportunity.

  2. Be helpful, not forceful: Help employees think through the issues, but don't tell them what to do. Allow employees to take personal responsibility for making things better.

Also you can ask about the opinion of your subordinates for any decisions directly relating to their work, it helps you to have good relationship with your subordinates. Also it gives a big boost to their confidence level and decision making skills.
  3. Don't just talk — change: Make a pledge to turn complaints into commitments. You gain employees' trust by showing them you are listening and making changes based on what you heard.
